My Path

As founder of WeMove Theatre, Abhishek Iyengar directed the play Malgudi daze (In English) based on short stories of R.K Narayan’s Malgudi days. The play Malgudi daze set many records and for the first time the audience got to see R.K Narayan’s works live on stage. Abhishek Iyengar’s most successful and critically acclaimed play was “NAMMA METRO”, A play written and directed by him which was staged at several prestigious theatre festivals including “KALA-Vedhi” at MES college, Bangalore which is meant to be a very prestigious platform to perform theatre plays. Abhishek Iyengar is also the founder and director of WeMove Digital, which is aimed at giving out meaningful and thought provoking cinemas to the society.

Malgudi Daze:- Director, Adapted from RK Narayan’s Malgudi Days
The play adapted from the famous novel of R.K narayan deals about simple south Indian families, the play was so popularthat it was staged over 5 different cities in India including Chennai, Pune and Hyderbad. The play was also staged at the prestigious Rangayana of Mysore.
Namma Metro:- Director and writer
The play deals with simple stories of Bangalore that we encounted every day, written by Abhishek Iyengar the play was invited to various Theatre festivals including Rangayana, Mysore. The print and paper media regarded this as “One of the most loved contemporary Kannda play of modern times”, Namma Metro directed by Abhishek was also regarded as a revolution in theatre field as reviewed by prajavani in Mysore.
Director and Founder, WeMove Digital
Formed to give meaningful and thought provoking cinemas, Abhishek Iyengar directed a short film in kannada called “SomeMaana”. The film was first premiered in bangalore and was widely applauded.
SomeMaana is one of the few films which has entered some of the biggest international film festivals such as “Mudfest, film festival, Australia”, “Olhar De Cinema, Brazil”, “Budapest film festival”, The Film was also an official entry to “Delhi Film Festival”. The film was also premiered of janashri news channel in karanataka as part of the channels film festival.
Abhishek Iyengar was on the Board of Trustees’ for WeMove foundation for performing arts trust for over 3 years and lead WeMove productions producing and directing some of the path breaking plays.
  • Tatyana Moha:- Adapted from a Bengali play, written by Abhishek Iyengar
Tayana Moha, written and directed by Abhishek Iyengar was one of the most critically acclaimed play till date, it was also the official entry to “Mahindra excellence in Theatre awards for 2009” The print media reviewed the play as the most innovative form of art in 2009
  • Nannavala Kagada, Director- Abhishek Iyengar
A humorous play written by S Gundurao, Nannavala Kagada has set record for the highest number of shows on a single day due to audience requests. Performed several times at Mysore and Bangalore the play is  directed by Abhishek Iyengar and is the most popular play till date .
  • T.P Kailsam Marali Baa, Director- Abhishek Iyengar
Based on the works of legendary playwright T.P Kailasam, the play is said to be a “path breaking plays” as it brought back some of the forgotten works of legendary writers of Karnataka literature world.
  • Urvashi and Jhony, Assistant Director- Abhishek Iyengar
Abhishek Iyengar worked as assistant director for the play, “Urvashi and Jhonny’ which he later adapted to kannada and directed. The play id written by Bengali playwrite ‘Mahaswetha devi’, Abhishek also designed lights for the play. The play was selected by META awards jury members
  • Me, My love and, Assistant Director and Written by Abhishek Iyengar
One of the premier productions of WeMove productions, Abhishek Iyengar, assisted in direction and designed lights for the play Me, Mylove and. Adapted from a novel called ‘Anything for you maam’, The play was written by Abhishek Iyengar along with the light design.
Other Projects:-
  • Conducted theatre workshops for the engineering students of “Ambedkar Institute of Technology” leading to their participation in Annual VTU Cultural fest.
  • “Yes Minister” a play written and directed on the prestigious occasion of “Graduation of students” from IIMB. The staff and students of IIMB appraised the concept of “Theatre for All”
  • IT sketches”, written and designed for IBM, IMTC event at LEELA PALACE witnessed top company executives including the big wigs of IT world, Around 200 CEO and COO’s of different companies applauded the effort of brining theatre a new dimension
  • Designed Lights for a play called ‘Confessions of an Assasin’, produced under the banner ‘Imagine India’
  • Conducted Theatre workshop at Shri Ravishankar Ayurvedic college, The students performed a play written by Abhishek and participated in ‘Annual Medical Cultural festival’
  • Conducted Theatre workshop and directed street plays at HCG, Cancer hospital for the occasion ‘World Anti Tobacco day’. The staff and doctors of HCG performed a street play called ‘Tambaaku Bhayanaka” on 8 different major streets of Bangalore as a part of awareness program
  • Ø      Abhishek Iyengar has a Novel published to his name by name “14 Barriers” which revolves around the life of an Engineering student, the novel was bestseller in parts of Kerala and Karnataka.
    Ø      Abhishek Iyengar has been a former columnist to leading news papers like Deccan Herald and Vijaya Times(now Bangalore mirror), As a columnist to these papers, he has penned around 500 articles
    Ø      Abhishek also headed, ‘Bengaluru Parishe’ Bangalore’s first online magazine, He worked in the magazine as Editor-In Chief
