Expressed!

It was 7.30 p.m, tiring, with no energy Joseph came to his apartment, infracted, discomfited; he threw his brief case and headed towards his kitchen to brew some coffee. He was not in best of his senses; life for him had become a deserted road, Joseph, has lost faith n everything and more importantly he had lost his self-respect, he wanted to commit suicide but the cruel world would title him as “coward”, joseph’s life was like a sailing boat which was sinking in his own tears, phew!! As he sat on the couching sipping the coffee, he opened the dairy which he had treasured for a long time, “I love her...” he sighed, “I still love her...” he cried, his tears rolling from his tired eyes “ I bewrayed her..” he screamed…

Joseph was the most adorable guy, she could have ever found, both fell in love in no time and avowed to live for each other, Cynthia was a marketing executive and Joseph was the junior visualizer, it never appeared as if there was any distinction of work between them, even though Cynthia was his boss she always had that extra edge for him, she wasn’t too indulgent when it came to work and he never used his love when it came to official matters, “cynthy can we have dinner together today?” he asked her in the most polite manner, “no joseph, I have a client meeting, you carry on..” she replied with lot of hard feelings “I understand.. Catch you later...” they were so understanding, “hello Joseph, I got my promotion, I am the new marketing head now..” exclaimed Cynthia and joseph stood there with his other colleagues trying to get a sneak peak at his lady love, who had achieved something remarkable, joseph was lost in her love and so was Cynthia, the sun wouldn’t set without seeing them drive together to the nearest “mackson’s café” life for them was a unanswered emotion, a untold feeling, the entire “Jermy’s Solutions Inc” knew their romance and no one defied to disturb them.

“Cinthy!! Cinthy!! I got 2 tickets for a movie at 3!” Joseph was so commoved that he dint notice the meeting that” was going on in Cynthia’s office, embarrassed with his excitement Cynthia shouted “Mr. joseph, can’t you see that we are in a meeting and its very important to knock ones door before entering..” Joseph returned to his house broken and scourged.. and the phone rings….

“Hello?? Joseph here” in a meek sorrow tone, “I joseph, Cynthia here I am so sorry I was silly and ridiculous, I hurt you.. “

“cynthy are you drunk?? ya! Huh! Yes! You are drunk..” but why?

“I want to come there and spend time with you, can I joseph? Can I come to your apartment?”

“But cynthy you are drunk. How will you? Should I pick you up? From some where”

“ha ha ha ha, you are always sweet sweet heart, just open your door and you can see your cynthy..”

Joseph runs towards the main door and opens to his astonishment, finding cynthy lying there on the floor….

Cynthy finds him and hugs him tightly.. her senses totally bygone, cynthy falls at josephs feet crying…

“Cynthy, for god sake, Come in!! and please control your senses.. Why did u drink so much? If you cannot withstand it??”

As he carries her inside his apartment, “sit her, I will get you some fresh coffee, so that you can come out of your 9th world..”

“Joseph, can I have a drink please?”

“NOooo, have you gone mad, you are drinking coffee and nothing else that that, understand ?”

“but……..”, “no cynthy, sorry…”

Joseph gets a mug of hot coffee and hands over to her.

“Here it is…”

“Now what happened tell me..?”

“I did not do the brightest thing on earth by yelling at you at the office in front of so many people…”

“Neither I cynthy.. it was so stupid of me. To barge in at your office and take out 2 tickets..” laughs joseph..

“joseph you are not mad at me right??? I thought you will ditch me..are you fine?”

“Have you gone mad? No darling! Life for me with you is more than my carrier and I would take many of such with light heart only to be with you…”

“but still joseph..”

“Oh! Cynthy will you cut your crap? Please, don’t you remember the dreams that we have to fulfil? The house that we though of buying, our hope, our desire”,

Joseph holds cythia, sees straight in her eyes and then there is silence, lips throbbing, hands trembling, tears rolling out, his heart filled with love for Cynthia, joseph whispers “Cynthia calm down!! I love you my sweet heart!!!”

Cynthia breaks down..in despair, touched by his feeling towards her

Looking at his eyes hugging him tightly, kisses him and utters

“Joseph, I want to spend my last leg of journey with you…”

“ha ha ha, you are as silly as it can get cynthy right??” he laughs as he looks at his watch

“cynthy it is 2 o clock in the night, you have to be at your home darling! Wont your parents get worried?” you need to get home baby!!!

“no, please I want to spend time with you, I want to be there whole night, please this can be our last night..”

“cynthy you are drunk and not in your senses completely, please will you go home now its late and it might get more dangerous…”

Joseph drags her to the parking lot and pushes her in the car..”

Cynthya cries all her way down and forces him not to send her soon…

Joseph pushes her into the car and runs up to his apartment…

As he enters, the phone rings..

“hello??”

A weak voice from the other side, “hello son, this is albert, cynthia’s father…”

Joseph talks in excitement.. “hello, uncle nothing to worry, Cynthia just left she will be reaching home safely….”

“Well, I wish son!!!, but Cynthia MET WITH AN ACCIDENT AT 8 o CLOCK IN THE EVENING AND PASSED AWAY ON THE WAY TO HOSPITAL AT 9 o clock…”

Joseph keeps the phone in shock and then there is that long silence…………………

As I set to watch the movie which had captured millions of people this season, they say 'Dreams unlimited', well when 'Dreams become a part of reality?" or may be "REALITY?" huh! I was believed to literally prepare myself before i could step into cinema hall, I read loads of pages before I could sense "Inception"

'You dream! and then Dream to reality' stuck me hard, the line in the film which said "Never construct a dream out of your own memories" actually had invoked in me a bigger dream, as I wrapped the film and rose to go home filled in a deep surprise and with an pinch of feeling that went something like "What the f@(&##?", "How is it possible to think of such a script or a story line" for a moment I thought I was 'Dreaming' to have been sitting in a cinema hall and watching a nerve breaking film such as this.

My head was constantly cogitating on the story line and then it stuck me! was it completely new? 'Dreaming is not new' which the film makers also knew I suppose but the whole concept of planting an idea in the sub-conscious mind is not so new to us, just go back down the memory lane and you will find your grandmother telling stories on indian mythology where ideas were formulated only through dreams!

Ramanujacharya dreamt the fact that he had to settle down in melukote for years to drive the whole "Shree-vaishnava" philosophy down south, There is an interesting legend associated with the birth of Adi Shankaracharya. It is believed that, Lord Shiva appeared in the dreams of Sankara's parents and asked them to make a choice, whether they want to have a mediocre child who lives a long life or a precocious child who would not survive for a longer period of time. Thus, they mutually decided to go in for the second option. Later, a son was born to them, who was named Shankara.

Stories doesn't end here, it is believed in my family that my great grand father actually met few villagers in his dream who persuaded him to take up the job of 'offering pooja' to the village deity which inturn happened to be a dream, not that I had to build this one. Indian Mythology is perhaps driven by dreams and planting ideas in dreams with every second king and sage getting dreams and ideas planted.

Kamsa, the great daemon himself predicted his death by the dreams that he got, where he dreamt of his nephew killing him; stories never end here, as I tried to churn out more logical meaning to the the whole concept of 'Inception" I was beginning to realize that "Inception" is strongly related to our 'Indian Mythology' only that the centuries ago we did not have a camera to capture it. "Placing ideas in one's mind" is actually a known trick which is proved to be a successful technique right from the day our mythology was born! In a very 'not so famous' interview, the makers of multi-billionaire blockbuster movie 'Avtar' accepted the fact that the film is partly based on the concept of "Aatma being the real soul and the real protector the body is just Karma" which is exactly the phenomenon our few shastra's preached us ages ago.

So what is gone is coming back! I kind of felt relived after the fact that "Inception" is nothing but a recreation of our story in a new bottle, as we move ahead into 'next generation cinema' I see most of the films based more on the Indian philosophy and mythology. As i wrap up my 'perception' I just "dream' that one day the thing line between dreams and reality masks your 'Totem'!

I have spent days wondering the power of women, today I took the bold step in putting them in 'form of' words, to be frank I feel words are too less to express their passion, their strength, their dedication and more importantly their talent.
I am talking about two women who have changed the way women are regarded in general!
Being a women is not all about "Lifestyle" or "Pantaloons", being a women is not all about "Being complicated!"
Madhuvanthi G and Nagashree Karko are two super women of WeMove who have achieved something very few girls of their age would have achieved and today my article is dedicated to their passion towards "Art" and "Theatre!"
When we started WeMove early in 2006, we were filled with bunch of careless boys hanging around with absolutely no direction to our dreams, we set out to create what was regarded then as a humorous joke, we wanted to start a 'Theatre company!'
Times rolled as we realised the need of "Female Actors", of course we wanted to reach out to every 'sections' of the society.
"Need guidance for a college theatre project" the post on the derelict ORKUT directed me to a passionate young girl for whom theatre was just a way of expression! She was waiting near the ever famous "Pavitra paradise" near Basaweshwaranagar, Bangalore with a hope that she will get an bewildering script for her college theatre project, I just went there with a few dowloaded copies of an iditoic script.
"Hi.." she recieved, of course on the road..!
"Hi..I am Abhishek Iyengar and I am part of WeMove.." I recieved her back! Still on road..!
"Well, here are some scripts.. you may use it for your college play.." I handed over to her..
"gee! thank you.". she was overwhelmed!

Much to her surprise we met again and this time it was not on the roads but in WeMove rehearsals not before I was baffled by watching her college play written and directed by her, Madhuvanthi was one of the rare find for WeMove. Her passion towards theatre was unaccountable, her first role as a "Call girl" just showcased her strenght towards acting, she essayed one of the most difficult roles of Kannada litreture with oomph, style and attitude. Madhuvanthi was here to stay and she declared it in her own style with some of the mind blowing performances which moved both WeMove and audience. Be it her role in Tatyana Moha or the role of "Damayanti" in Nannavala Kagada, Madhu as she is fondly known left her imprints in the world of WeMove.
Week end after Week end, she was there learning each and every line, acting each and every emtion. Shifting her life between 2 different time zones, madhu spent sleepless nights and some times DAYS; only to make WeMove stronger and mightier. If ever there was one strenght of WeMove, then it was "Acting" and she was a integral part of it.
"What is life without theatre?" I once questioned her, she replied back "May be it is like life without expression!"
"There needs to be a powerful script" she claimed when WeMove finalized the screenplay for Malgudi Daze and then came out "Selvi, a story of a submissive singer" which was her first stinct as writer and director. Today Madhu stands apart from most of her agemates and soon set to become an director in WeMove. From a small time actor to directing a play, the story just unviels the strenght of this woman.

"Are you Abhishek Iyengar?" she puzzled a question at me!
"Yes! did you watch the show?" I shot back
"No, I had my CAT classes.."
"ok.. ok.. make sure you see it next time.. " I snapped at her
May be I din't even look at her properly, she stood there just gazing at WeMove team wrapping up TPK Marali baa show at Sevasadana, least she knew that she will one day Manage and lead the entire public relations of WeMove and emerge out as one of the finest actress.
Once a leading news paper in Mysore reviewed her acting performance as a "bright star",
Wearing a black shirt with a gleam in her eyes she came with her friend to WeMove rehearsals for the very first time only to make sure that her friend gets a role in WeMove plays. She was neither interested to join nor was prepared. Being her first co-actor I had a golden chance to act with her only to realize that 'acting' is an art and only few people can rule over it.
Her role as an 'Integrator" in TPK Marali Baa fetched her reviews which WeMove had seldom seen earlier.
She grew and so her passion towards art, when most of her friends spent their time at a nearest "Adda" she spent hers in WeMove rehearsals.
In years to come Nagashree dawned some of the roles which is even remembered now, the doctor of U and J, Caty of Namma Metro, Selvi of Malgudi, Astrologers Wife. Bubbly, energetic and always excited, Nagashree changed the way WeMove presented its plays, the Malgudi show at Mysore was one of the classic example.
"I don't over commit" she once hurled at me when asked about her passion towards theatre.
"I just hate the way we present our plays!" she declared it only to take new steps to change it,
"Simple things always matter and we need to get it right" she exclaimed when I once asked her about WeMove.
A persona which is difficult to be expressed in words nagashree has come a long way from just being an actor
A charming actress, A figther by nature, pratical thinker by nature, a lover of art, beautiful presenter, bundle of energy, hey! "A perfect soul mate" and the reason I am STILL doing theatre today!

Nagashree has not only changed the way WeMove looks today but has redefined "Brand WeMove!"

These are not just facts but "words of struggles" of two women who have made it from where they set off! I have always wondered about the problems faced by women in this society and often refer myself to these two who have probably fought every barrier in their life to do or pursue theatre.
Sacrifise is something bigger than life in itself according to me and when I think of all those "Life" that these two have sacrifised for WeMove, tears roll down from my eyes; I just pacify myself thinking that "these tears are of happines"

Sometimes it is regarded that extraordinary people should be treated ordinary! I treat them as just 2 women who have made the entire womenhood proud!
As I conclude by saluting these two for their contributions and achievements, I re-iterate "Being Women is quite easy but being Madhu and nagashree is tough!"

Not long before, when the doors of creativity was made wide open, A college student in his early 19′s came running from the audience with a desire of doing theatre!

Hanging his side bag on his shoulders, he came into the scene when things were apart, he was then just a marketing executive, his eyes spoke of his dreams and passion towards music

Scattered hair, parallel thoughts, a completely unseen character sat silently in the rehearsal rooms of Ravindra kalakshetra watching the proceedings, all that he had to do was come on stage for a line which was not even part of the original script.

Today, the story is about 3 people who may not have hit the front page of any “Times” magazine! huh! but who cares! I believe they have hit the the headlines of their passion. Hanuram Sanjeev, Anup Shenoy and Dr.Sohan today depict what thousands believe with in themselves “to achieve”. Busy schedules, arduous examinations, baffling scenes at the ICU did not prevent these guys to attain what they always dreamt of!

“Life is a stage and we all are actors” echoed Shakespeare! indeed it is proved these three, I still remember the first meeting of all these three.

“Tensed, excited and panting, Hanuram Sanjeev a 19 year old diploma student at dayanandasagar college came to me

“I want to do theatre” he whispered with a sense of fear in his mind. The story from there is no lesser than a drama itself! from Production guy to a director, he essayed his presence everywhere. Amidst countless shouting from his directors and those countless hard jobs at Production, he stood there with a dream to be a director. I still remember that day when I was directing Malgudi daze! I asked Hanu to get out of the lighting console as he did not have the mind and concentration to do proper lighting! he quietly stepped outside the light room and waited outside until I met him outside right before the show, he looked at me as tears rolled out from eyes he bowed his head in silence! those tears made me see his passion towards WeMove and theatre! they told me that “One day I will be a director!” they cried to me seeking for help! I was defeated then not by his tears but by his passion towards WeMove.

Cool, Calm and Composed! May be a slight lack of confidence, what seemed like was, he lacked motivation! I met him with one of his friend who was pretty complacent having her meal! he mentioned “He could sing…” huh! I sighed! The man of few words and more emotions waited nearly 8 months to step on the stage! he came into WeMove when things were wide apart, confused! puzzled week after week Anup Shenoy used to drive from electronic city with a hope that he will find himself one day on stage! and when he went on stage! it seemed like a calm wave hitting the banks. I remember the scene when I finished the recording of the song for the play ‘Namma Metro’, I went to Anup and told him “I expected you to sing for Namma Metro track” he replied back with a sight right into my eyes as “I think you should give me a chance” he smiled only to resort to his acting, that’s when I realized that his smile then spoke of many words which had never touched my ears before! I felt the passion for WeMove and theatre in his smile!

He missed his family and yet he never missed a line in his role!

Scattered! rugged! Raw!, he sat there in one corner wondering “Where have I come?” he was there! just because he wanted to be there! With absolutely “no idea” as to where to put him, he just started acting odd roles. Somewhere in his heart he knew that he was more talented than this. He stood there for days watching the rehearsals with an anxiety, Well he was a doctor! to add to his woes he had to always attend to emergency’s be it girl “friends” or his patients but he decided to hang on! When Malgudi daze was supposed to be staged, there was a situation when we were short of our own guitarist! only to realize that Sohan had a hidden talent not only with guitars but with music in general. I had expressed a doubt within myself about his talents on guitar and “proudly” I thought it was a risk! I asked him in a tone which probably makes me laugh today “Can you play guitars” he promptly answered “I can try!” he sighed! that day his sigh also spoke a lot of words! he signed, may be to tell me that “I live on strings” he sighed me to tell that “I can play! I just need one chance” the next day as he put his guitars around his arms, rest was history! I still remember that memorable day after he played his guitars, amidst all the applause he turned and looked at me and probably questioned with his eyes “Can I play?” I sat there wondering what to answer!

These are the extraordinary stories of extra ordinary people! real people of WeMove who come week after week, these are the stories of people who make WeMove, who believe WeMove will do something good to them, who proudly “claim”, WeMove as theirs; These are the stories of people whom you find on the big screen, these are the stories of people who do not get lost with time but get lost amidst their search for better creativity and talent. These are the stories of people whom I spend time with and when in alone makes me think “DO I REALLY HAVE THE TALENT IN ME TO MATCH UP TO THESE PEOPLE/STRUGGLE”

Today Hanuram Sanjeev is directing his first play on October 2nd, Anup Shenoy is a lead singer of WeMove and no one can think of any song without his voice and Dr. Sohan is a magician guitarist, Together Sohan and anup recorded their first WeMove song which is a Theme song! for WeMove!

Cheers!

Abhishek Iyengar, No! Abhi

For those who can take humor in a humorous way!

He sits there gazing at every family proceedings! a sense of pride in him, he declares himself as the ‘adhipathi’ of the masses. He is one of those pseudo dons who directs the whole family on his finger tips. He is the declared-universal king!

“He wants coffee!” shouts a person in a shrieking voice which probably symbolizes tension; “He is sitting there for long enough and still haven’t seen the first sight of coffee! oh my god! huh!” sighs the auntie’s draped in sarees adding to her sweat and woes!

He sits there with his leg twirling at every person coming near him to talk, he shakes his head gently and raises his voice which is nothing sort of the voice of a parliament speaker! he represents no one but his own sense of ‘pride’ which looks like a condition of ‘hysteria’ for people who are born to hate him but forced to ‘love-him’

“Did you talk to him!?” exclaims a aged yet excited granny with her spectacles falling off her slippery nose! “oh! is he here already?” answers a tiring yet forced old aged man tying his dothi ‘upside’ right up to his knees! sometimes ‘even his hands follows protocols”

“How are you? how is your work? did you eat something? did you have your 300th dose of coffee for the day?” the question hour begins! answering them is left to his priority but he has all the rights to discard it however and when ever he wants, he is the ultimate messiah after all! “You girls are here! what a nincompoop you girls are! he is there sitting idly, go talk to him, wish him, greet him, serve him..” shouts the mother to her other daughters in a voice which shrills only at his name!
